New Truck

Shaun's car has had an exhaust leak for quite some time now--makeing it quite unsafe to travel any further than just around town. We decided that we needed something more reliable now that he's starting a new job, and will be traveling back and forth on weekends for a while with the move.

It was between a small economy car (4D requirement), or a small fuel-efficient truck. We went with the truck. It has already come in handy on many occasions, and is definitely helpful with the move! I can't wait to bring new projects home in it! =)

Say goodbye to the 1992 Nissan Sentra.... "GOODBYE"

Say hello to our new 2007 Toyota Tacoma... "H-E-L-L-O!"

GRADUATION... FINALLY!

Shaun finally graduated on Friday, May 13, 2011 with a MS and BS in Industrial Engineering, accompanied by a Certificate in Statistics. (A certificate is equivelent to a MS, but they wouldn't give him two unless he took more gen-ed courses... not happening!) Anyway, it was quite a day, and we're all so proud of him...and glad it's over. :) Way to go babe!

There were so many friends and family here to help celebrate--both in person and in spirit. I think Shaun's favorite part was seeing Andy, his brother. (Doug and Joan's present was bringing Andy out for the graduation. It was a complete surprise to Shaun, and everyone could tell he was pleasantly surprised and excited to see his big brother sitting in the audience when he walked out to sit in his chair for the ceremony.)

SHAUN GOT A JOB!!!

Let's get caught up on a few things... starting with the Job hunt:

After many, many months of prayers and interviewing we can finally put our minds at ease. SHAUN GOT A JOB!!!

We had a lot of different companies that sounded really promising until they sent Shaun a rejection letter. It was really frusterating having all of them say how impressed they were with his resume and the experience he has, and that he looks like he'd be the perfect fit for their company, and they getting rejected.

Shaun got around 40 or so rejection letters, and was getting really down (as anyone could imagine). I kept trying to cheer him up and reassure him that the Lord knows where we need to be, and he'll show us in due time... (which was running out with graduation getting so near.) I knew everything would work out and be ok though. We had a few places still on the burners we were waiting to hear from, and some of those sounded promising.

One company in particular kept popping up. Shaun interviewed with a company back in October of 2010 called Torotel Products Inc located in Olathe, KS, and they really wanted him. They offered him a job in December to start right away. The problem was that we still had another semester before graduation, so he couldn't start when they needed him. They went ahead and hired someone else, but kept in touch throughout the months. In March they called again with another offer for the same position to start right away because the person they hired didn't work out, but the same problem arose because he still had to finish his last semester of school. They said they would have to keep looking. Finally mid-April they came back yet again and officially wanted to offer Shaun a job. They said they were willing to wait until he graduated because they hadn't found anyone as experienced or qualified as Shaun, and they really needed him.

It was starting to become very obvious to us that after all of our praying for a job, and with this job that kept showing up out of nowhere, our prayers were being heard and we needed to open our eyes. Shaun went and met with the CEO, COO and the Quality Manager (who he would be working for). He had a really good feeling about the company, and instantly liked the people he met that he'd be working with. He even told them that he was married, and that I'm expecting! (With other jobs he'd interviewed for he basically had to hide the fact that he's married because they try to stay away from married people--even though it's descrimination and against the law...needless to say it was a big deal to me). What was even more exciting was that they were HAPPY about it because that means Shaun will be more stable than some young, single kid right out of college. Why couldn't anyone else see that?!

Anyway, he left without the official offer letter in hand because he had to get back to Manhattan for a meeting that night and the lady who types up the offer letters was in a meeting. He had given them a soft "yes" though after talking to me about it, and we both had a good feeling. To put the icing on the cake--while Shaun was in his meeting he had 8 missed phone calls and messages. Every member of the engineering team had called to introduce themselves and welcome him aboard! How cool is that?! What company does that?!

Naturally, after discussing it a little further and praying without getting any negative feelings or answers, Shaun accepted the position as the Quality Engineer they had been looking for... 3 weeks before graduation. He starts May 23 (this coming Monday)!

I love seeing how things fall into place when you do all you can, and put your trust in the Lord and let him do the rest. He is real, and He is there. He listens to our prayers, and answers them in his own way and time.

27 Weeks

Today is Mother's Day and the mark of my 27th week. That means I'm in my third trimester, right? I've heard it many ways, but I think that's correct. Let me know if it's not.

I'm getting into the uncomfortable stage of pregnancy now. I eat a lot more (more than Shaun, that's for sure) but then my belly starts stretching on the sides because there's not enough room for a growing baby AND food. About two hours later I get bad acid-y heartburn no matter what I eat. That means he'll have lots of hair, right? =)

I have a nice melon belly now though. People can tell I'm actually pregnant.

Temple Trip and Mother's Day

Shaun and I FINALLY had the opportunity to go to the temple yesterday and do an Endowment session. It was SO nice! I definitely needed it for sanity's sake. The sad thing is that I probably won't have the chance to go again for a while with moving and the baby coming, etc. I've been really stressed out lately with all of the changes about to take place for us, mixed with my prego hormones starting to go all over the place, and needed to just leave it all outside for a while.

We went to our favorite restaurant afterwards for lunch--Greek Island. We went there for our wedding dinner after we were married a couple of years ago, so we made a tradition of going there every time we visit Omaha.

We were going to go either to the Omaha Zoo or the Air and Space Museum after lunch, but decided it'd be best to go find a small present for our mothers. A little late, but we won't tell them we didn't buy the stuff until Saturday.

Shaun also bought me a nice charm bracelet for Mother's Day. I'm only 1/2 a mom so far, but it's nice to be able to celebrate what's happening in my belly. =)

We were going to get more charms for it, but they'll have to wait. They're not too expensive, but sure add up being small! The blank spot between teh power cat and the "Mom" will have a "2011" when Hampton is born.

Easter

We didn't do a lot for Easter this year. Went to church like any other Sunday. The Easter Bunny came, but didn't have time to buy more candy, so there were only about 7 eggs...three of which had money in them instead of jellybeans. It was fine though, and Shaun didn't mind finding a couple of dollars. Shaun got a new shirt and tie that look very sharp with his khaki's and blazer, and a nice polo. I got a cool glass pitcher. (See below)

Next year will be more fun with a little one to start new traditions with. (He won't understand, of course, but it'll be fun for me!)

We went to Doug and Joan's for a yummy Easter dinner, and had a nice quiet evening visiting with them.
