38 Weeks and counting...

Here's my 38 week picture. I know it's not the best, but that's what you get since I took it myself, and didn't exactly get dolled up for it. Oh well...

As you can see, he's definitely growing, and along with that Im getting much more uncomfortable. Comes with the territory though, I guess.

Hampton has been head-down for the past couple of weeks already, which is good so we don't have to worry about him being breach at all. However, he's also been all up in my ribs the past few days, and it HURTS! I'm ready for that to stop!

We went in a couple of days ago for the 38 week appt. I've been having more Braxton Hicks contractions, but how am I supposed to know if they're actually the real thing? I've never had contractions before! Anyway, my cervix is still closed, and nothing is happening yet. We go in again next Tuesday, Aug 2, for the 39 week appt and we'll see if I've started dialating by then or not. I wouldn't be surprised if I go past the due date--this being my first and all.

We finally had a tour of the birthing center at Olathe Medical last Saturday (July 23) so we know where to go and what to expect. It's a really nice facility, and I'm excited to be able to go there! The rooms are all L,D,P,R (labor, delivery, postpartum & recovery) so we won't have to move our stuff after delivery. The only difference is the bed. There's a labor/delivery bed, then a queen-size murphy bed pulls down from the wall for the recovery part. I also went in for a Pre-Admission appt on Monday (Jul 25) to fill out all of the paperwork--consent forms and such-- so we'll be ready to go when it's time, and not have to fill it all out between contractions.

Having those two things out of the way--not to mention having a doctor--makes things a lot less stressful. I think I'm about ready for H to come now. I'm getting more and more excited and anxious each day, and so is Shaun. He's at the point where he has his phone on him at all times while at work just in case. They're even giving him 5 days off paid for when the baby comes, which is such a blessing! It's part of his vacation, but being new they usually don't allow any time off for the first 90 days. I'm so glad he works at a place that really focuses on the importance of family, and is willing to work with us at this time!

It's so crazy to think that our litte "Hampster" will be here in just a few days!

Sisters close by...

Since the move we are only about 5 miles from Shaun's sister, Heather, and about 10 miles from my sister, Ashlee. It's so fun to be able to see everyone on a regular basis! I love being able to craft with Ashlee whenever I want, and hope to start doing more with Heather very soon. We have lots of plans... =)

I also love being able to help Ash with watching her kids from time-to-time. We have so much fun together, and I get to be their FAVORITE AUNT! (That's right, Whit, I said it... I'm their FAVORITE!)

Ella and Gideon came over the other day while Ashlee went to the dentist and we had a blast! We ate lunch at a park, went to the library, went back to my place where E took a nap and G watched a movie, then we played in the water in the backyard. It was so fun! They're such cute kids!

It's fun to go shopping with them too. Ash will push the cart and if I fall behind or have to go to another isle to get something, I'll here "kay-ee, kay-ee where are oo?" (That's Ella saying "Katee, where are you?"), then see Gid running around the corner to find me...So cute!

I know Shaun likes being close too. He and Jared (Ashlee's hubby) go fishing every Tuesday night and spend quality "guy time" that they both need. We go to Heather and Robert's to visit quite frequently too, and sometimes catch dinner or a movie with them.

It's so nice to be close to family! We love you all!

New Washer & Dryer!!!

We've been married for just over 2 1/2 years now, and have always had to take our laundry elsewhere to do. We are very appreciative to our family members who let us do our laundry at their houses--it has saved us hundreds on laundromats, I'm sure! Thank you Doug & Joan, Heather & Robert, and Ashlee & Jared!

Well, we saved up when we moved to Olathe, and after a few weeks we were able to buy our own washer and dryer (with the help of our last apartment deposit and my final paycheck). Yay! We decided it was worth the investment to get new ones instead of used since we'll have them for years to come.

Here they are. The best toys new parents could ask for!

The day after they were installed I sat at home and did about 10 loads of laundry. All baby stuff I hadn't had a chance to clean before. It's SO NICE to be able to do our laundry at our own house and not have to cart it around town and back! (Just from one room to the other.)

Since the pedestals (drawers) are about $250/each (ouch!) I'm going to build a cabinet thing to go under the washer and dryer with a pattern I found online instead of buying anything. This won't happen until AFTER baby comes though. They're not bad now, just a little low.

35 Weeks... HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

We went to Manhattan to spend Independence Day with Shaun's family. Robyn was in town for about a week, and Heather also went for the weekend. It was a great time! We arrived Saturday morning and were mellow all day. Robyn, Joan and I went to the Farmer's Market in the morning, and Shaun was jumping, so we were trying to think of something else to do. SO, we decided to get pedicures!

I have never had a pedicure at an actual salon before, and can't reach my toes comfortably right now. It was SO NICE! I highly reccommend this to anyone who just wants to be pampered for a bit.

The place we went (Salon 1) could only do one person at a time, so I went first, then Joan, then Robyn. While Robyn was going I decided I wanted a manicure too. I haven't had my nails painted in years, and tried to do it myself the other day. It was a miserable failure! The lady at the salon did a MUCH better job! What do you think?

(Yes, my wedding rings are on my pinky because my hands and feet are swollen. Gotta love the heat...)

That night the women all stayed up late playing "Ticket to Ride" and gossipping.

Sunday we went to Sacrament Meeting at church and came home early to spend family time. We had the celebratory Independence Day cookout that day since a few of us were going to be leaving Monday afternoon, and it was delicious!

Oh, and here is the 35 week picture. Only 5 weeks to go... CRAZY!

The crib comes in this week, and we'll (hopefully) be getting a washer and dryer this week so I can wash everything and finish setting up the nursery. I'm having so much fun "nesting" and getting the house ready to bring little Hampton home.
